Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 October 2026

Sherlock saves pages you want to come back to and surfaces them when your calendar leaves you a gap. This page describes exactly what it stores to do that, and what it does not.

Who runs Sherlock

Sherlock is an independent project, not a company product. It is currently in private testing with a small group of invited users. Questions and deletion requests go to kacper.l@masterborn.com.

What Sherlock stores

Your account record holds your email address, taken from the Google account you sign in with. Alongside it, Sherlock stores only what you create while using it:

Sherlock does not store the text of the pages you save. It keeps the address and the title, not the article.

Google Calendar

If you connect your calendar, Sherlock requests read-only access. It reads the start and end times of today’s events to work out when you have a free gap long enough to read something.

Your events are never written to Sherlock’s database. They are read, used in memory to find the gap, and discarded. Event titles, guests, locations and descriptions are not stored anywhere and are not sent on. What Sherlock does keep is the Google token that lets it go on reading your calendar in the background; disconnecting the calendar in Settings deletes that token.

Sherlock’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to provide the reading suggestions described here. It is not used for advertising, not sold, and not used to train any model.

The browser extension

The extension reads the address, title and preview image of a page only at the moment you ask it to save that page. It does not track your browsing, and it does not run in the background on the pages you visit.

Where your data is held

Your account and saved pages live in a hosted Supabase database, reachable only by your own signed-in account. Sign-in is handled by Google; Sherlock never sees your password.

What Sherlock does not do

Deleting your data

You can delete any saved page or goal from the dashboard at any time. To remove your account and everything attached to it, write to kacper.l@masterborn.com and it will be deleted in full. Deleting the account removes your saved pages, goals, settings and calendar token together — nothing is kept back as an archive.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top will change and testers will be told directly.
